In an additional blow to residents, the proposed plan includes up to a 200% increase in resident parking permit costs and the removal of free Electric Vehicle (EV) permits.
Moreover, the absence of the usual free Christmas parking days during the festive season raises concerns about support for local retailers and residents amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. This proposed surge in parking fees is nearly double the average increases implemented by the Conservative administration in previous years, prompting growing apprehension about its potentially devastating impact on the local high street.
As the cost of living crisis looms, the Conservative Party emphasizes the detrimental effects such hikes can have on the local economy. Where is the support for our high street when it's needed the most?"
