A road safety education campaign run by RBWM has helped to reduce child casualties on the Borough’s road by 39% since 2014.

The road safety programme, gives pupils expert road training three times by the end of Key Stage 2. In Year 3 pupils are taught the Green Cross Code and in Year 4 they are taught car safety and further road safety skills, and in Year 6 they are given the skills to learn to use roads independently.

Cllr Phil Bicknell, Lead Member for Highways and Transport, said “Ensuring that the next generation are safe and confident road users is a key part of their education and ultimately means a safer borough for everyone. We are very proud that our specialist road safety training has had the impact we hoped”.
