We have learned that the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead want to close the Alexander First School in Dedworth, Windsor. The school mainly serves children from military families who live on the Broom Farm estate as well as SEND places. Closing the school will cause concern among parents and carers as well as those who work at Alexander First School.
In addition, the school has also developed deep special educational needs provision and supports care-experienced children from around the Borough. Windsor Conservatives will support Alexander First School in developing a sustainable strategy for the school. We do not accept RBWM’s view that there are no viable options for the school. No one will win from this decision, especially the children living at the Broom Farm estate. This comes at the same time they evict individuals in Frogmore Court; a hostel for vulnerable youth who are migrating from care to general life, with very little notice.
We would encourage RBWM to engage positively with the school to make sure that children and young people in the area can achieve their best! We welcome Ed Wilson being co-opted into their board of trustees to support and champion their interests!
